Heading to the GM Chair

I am hankerin to GM again. Sent out feelers to see if I get any bites.

I sent out the following in an email to my peeps. Waiting now for any responses, and based on those responses, I will take action.

I apologize for this being so long.

I am itching to run something. And since most everyone I would like to include in this live more than 300 miles from me, it will have to be virtual (discord, zoom, roll20, skype, etc.) (and so far away is on me).

Ron, would you let Colie, MIke, Robert, and anyone else you feel might be interested, about this email. If you forward it to them it should go intact.

Dom, can I get you to extend this email to TJ in case he is interested.

John, please extend this email to your better half and kidlings.

So I am proposing a game every other week. It does not have to be on the weekend for me, though there may need to be adjustments on occasion because of my treatment schedule.

If you are even a little bit interested please read the rest of this ridiculously long email and answer the questions below. If I don’t hear from you after a couple of weeks I will assume you are not interested.

=============================

So, here are a few of the things I have been interested in running for decades. I have tried to put enough detail to allow for an understanding of what each setting might be about. However, please ask any questions you want if you may be interested in playing in any of these settings.

Also note that the “system” remark in each description will not match what the setting was originally released with. Questions are welcome on the system also.

============================= Birthright

A good ole down to earth fantasy setting with possible boss level encounters and some realm management duties.

Bloodlines empower individuals to leadership and realm wide spells. A fantasy setting 300 years after the fall of an empire, now a bunch of broken realms, some with claims to the throne, and others that have a legitimate right to the throne, but no one is strong enough to take it and keep it - yet.

The inhabitants of the realms not only include normal folk with a bit of realm spell ability, but also monstrosities that have absorbed divine power as well; there is not just serpents in the world, but also THEE serpent, a monster created by evil divine power - and there are lots of them.

Possible races are: o elves - there would only be one and there needs to be a really good reason o half-elves - rare o dwarves - rare o humans o half ork - rare and will have a tough time in this setting o halfling - rare

The system will be QuestWorlds. I can provide this PDF.

I can provide PDF’s of this setting.

============================= Shadow of the Spider Moon

A spelljamming setting, but it only takes place in a single (very crowded ;-) solar system. Lots of science fantasy and swashbuckling (and maybe smuggling, instigating violence, etc.). You would probably aim to misbehave.

Note that a spelljamming ship is also a character with all the blessings and warts that may bring. Of course I get to run that character :-)

Possible races are: o elves o half-elves o dwarves o humans o gnomes o half-ork o halfling

The system will be QuestWorlds. I can provide this PDF.

I can provide the PDF of this setting.

============================= Salzoon

A world literally torn asunder and dying - our world broken in the distant past; our people waiting for the other shoe to fall; a war that broke our people; and we think there are still a few dragon kings hanging around building to start another war and finish what they failed to do 300 years ago.

Lots of science fantasy with a world that might play back.

Possible races are: o elves - player will need to justify this somewhat and develop part of the world o dwarves - player will need to justify this somewhat and develop part of the world o halflings - player will need to justify this somewhat and develop part of the world o gnomes - player will need to justify this somewhat and develop part of the world o half-whatever - player will need to really justify this as it is hard to such promiscuity between races in this setting o humans - vast majority o others - if the player can justify and will need to do the leg work of what the race is all about

The system will be QuestWorlds. I can provide this PDF.

No setting PDFs as this is entirely my own.

============================= Council of Wyrms

An archipelago ruled by dragons; each player will make both a dragon character and a humanoid character as companion to the dragon (yes, the dragon is the one in the partnership that wears the pants); political intrigue, active skirmishes, and pleas before the Council of Wyrms between dragons as well as between the peoples that share the island chain with the dragons; and of course there are the rumors and memories of dragon slayers about - the only time the dragons knew some small amount of fear from a humanoid.

You get to play a dragon in this one.

Possible races are: o elves o half elves o dwarves o humans o gnomes o half ork o halfling o half dragon

The system will be QuestWorlds. I can provide this PDF.

I can provide the PDF of this setting.

============================= Uresia: Grave of Heaven

In the way distant past there were gods; the gods tolerated each other, until they didn’t; the gods warred with each other, often pulling entire continents of peoples into the fray; the final climactic battle took place in heaven itself; then heaven fell; the result is this archipelago with all that is left of our peoples; oh, and the gods are all dead.

Possible races are: o just about anything, even demons..

The system will be QuestWorlds. I can provide this PDF.

I can provide the PDF of this setting.

============================= Jovian Chronicles

Earth, after decades of war and then decades more of silence, has risen again and attempts to claim the solar system back.

The Jovian Confederation remembers being abandoned, a vast majority of the hundreds of thousands people living in the habitats starving or dying of disease with no hope of rescue or support from mother earth.

Venus is controlled by the Venusian Bank which is trying to establish viable colonies on Venus and terraform it.

Mars is controlled by two rival factions, one almost a fascist regime demanding obedience and control, and the other has a wild-west, frontier, don’t tread on my rights kind of feel.

Even mercury is orbited by habitation stations and is host to the main driver of a solar system spanning merchants guild.

Intrigue and political maneuvering, fire fights, and reflection on our place in the universe are all parts of play in this setting

Hard science fiction with big robots as a viable tool of war (think robo tech like) o no faster than light drives o no gravity plates o many advancements in weapons and starships

Possible races are: o humans are the only race

The system will be QuestWorlds. I can provide this PDF.

I can provide PDF’s of this setting.

============================= Dwarf Guard

Between fighting the monstrosities from the fire below and the giants from the fire above, it is tough surviving guild wars, clan wars, and family feuds. You are trouble-shooters for this (mostly) underground setting.

Possible races are: o dwarves

The system will be Mouse Guard. I can provide this PDF.

I can provide PDF’s of this setting. However they are derivation of the rules and setting material from the original mouse guard setting.

=============================

And now for the questions. Hidden among the words below are three questions.

(One) Please rate at least three of the settings above (1 = most want to play): o Birthright o Shadow of the Spider Moon o Salzoon o Counsel of Wyrms o Uresia: Grave of Heaven o Jovian Chronicles o Dwarf Guard

(Two) With Dwarf Guard there is no choice - we would use the Mouse Guard rule set. However, all the other settings I am not desiring to use the systems they came with. Are you Ok with learning a new role playing system (let me know and I will shoot you a PDF of the system if desired). It is only about 70 pages with all options, and we will not be using them all.

(Three) If you are desiring to play, what are we looking at for day of the week and time of day for playing?

I will let everyone know the results so you can decide if you really want to participate.

Based on answers received, I will begin preparations. Note the game may not start until sometime in January. Lots is happening between now and through the end of the year so we will start after the first of the year.

Please ask any questions you may have. If you do, please “reply to all” in the email so everyone can see your question and the subsequent answer as others may have the same or similar question.

I’m excited.
